The America Primaries - The Irish Perspective

I have been watching the news with my usual half interest and I have noticed that USAians don't have get all excited about the election for their "Big Man" or "Big Lassie".Maintaining excitement let alone interest over 10 months WOOOOO I am impressed! Over here we find it hard to give a monkey's chuff about the campaign pish the local politicians spew out for the required 4 weeks prior to an election let alone 10 months! .... You USAians are made of stern stuff.

When one of Hillary's ad asked "...who do you want answering the phone in the white house at 3am?" ... my first thought was , well for the last 7 years it has been George Bush, so were it me my answer would be "anyone".

As that was perhaps a bit uncharitable as a first thought I revised it to , a Notes Admin doing the migrate back to Domino. I conveniently lost the first thought cos my brain uses Exchange 5.5

I heard Barak Obama's slogan the other day ...."YES WE CAN!" We would never have that over here, mainly cos of copyright restrictions, no one would be able to use the same catch-phrase as the BBC children's program "Bob the Builder".

Catch his (Bob not Barak) #1 hit from a couple of years ago here I think, though I can't be sure, that this is the first potential American President who pinched his campaign slogan from ceebeebies

Well i suppose it is perhaps a wee bit better than McCain's catch phrase
"These oven fries contain 35% less fat.. why not try our hot apple pies?"
.o0(yes I know McCain frozen foods are Canadian i just couldn't resist it)

Just incase any one things I am taking the piss outa the American Elections, I am , so to redress the balance here is a really really bad irish joke.

Q: How many Irishman does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Two, one to hold the bulb and the other one to drink until the room starts spinning.

When in doubt, leave it to an Irishman to keep things in proper perspective!
